Biography
Dr. Sylvester Kyei-Gyamfi holds two Master’s degrees in Adult Education (MA) and Development Studies (MA), and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/History (BA). He has been working in child rights promotion and research fields since 1996, and has gained extensive experience issues related to child survival, protection and development.
He is currently the Head of the Information Research and Advocacy Division (IRAD) of the Department of Children (DOC). As part of his public outreach duties, he has engaged extensively in sensitizing children, parents, traditional authorities, legislators, policy makers, and other high-level government officials to sensitize them on child rights and protection issues.
Sylvester also has rich field experience and skills in research methods (qualitative and qualitative) and has the ability to analyze data and produce comprehensive reports. He has served on various national steering committees and several inter-ministerial task forces to address specific issues that require expertise knowledge on child rights.
Sylvester has some international exposure and been part of various national delegations to present issues on behalf of Ghanaian women and children. He has good administrative, interpersonal and communication qualities and made immense contribution into several academic and professional publications.
